Comforting Lies vs Unpleasant Truth

So you invest in these retirement funds, and they get to pool money to invest into big corporations, say the like of Banks.
Then you go and take a 20 or 30 years housing/car/study loan from these institutions.
(either you buy cash and pay a hefty tax upfront, or leverage on loan and do a near life-long financial blood donation to the banking system, anyhow you can run but you can't hide from the Grid, unless you live off-the-Grid)
So on one hand, you are serving the retirement fund accounts and the loan, while on the other hand, you receive some dividends (if any) from the investments you (were forced to) make, and get a paper acknowledgement in numbers of your retirement fund status every year (a lifetime bet).
On and off, you are left with some money to play the investment game on your own.
